HSAS Celebrates Read Across America Day

Every year on March 2, our nation recognizes the birthday of Dr. Seuss and Read Across America Day. This year, Toledo Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz celebrated with us by taking a school tour and reading a story to Ms. Leiby’s 1st grade class. He learned a lot about HSAS and wore a Seuss hat during his Seuss story.  The visit was featured on WTOL Channel 11 that day.

Classes celebrated throughout the building that day. Students learned about Dr. Suess and did activities related to his stories.  Top AR readers in 2nd-8th grade were given a Seuss-like hat and a special tag to share how many words they have read this year so far and were encouraged to wear it for the day. English classes were invited to read for an entire period in honor of the occasion.
